Cookie policy
This site may use cookies and similar technologies (localStorage, identifiers). Here are all of them, what they do, how long they last and how to change your choice.
Legal framework
Use of cookies on this site is governed by:
- Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR)
- Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 on Personal Data Protection (LOPDGDD)
- Spanish Law 34/2002 on Information Society Services (LSSI-CE), Article 22.2
- Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy)
- Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) guidelines on cookies (current version)
Categories of cookies used
1. Technical and necessary cookies
Legal basis: exempt from consent (LSSI-CE Art. 22.2 — necessary for the provision of the service requested by the user).
- CMP banner state — stored in
localStorageunder the keymapagay_consent_v1to remember your cookie decision and not ask again on every visit. Type: first-party localStorage. Duration: persistent until you delete it. - Language preference ES/EN if your browser stores it to remember the choice.
2. Analytics cookies (optional, require consent)
Legal basis: explicit consent via CMP banner (GDPR Art. 6.1.a + LSSI-CE Art. 22.2). Without consent they are NOT loaded.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
- Provider: Google LLC (USA). Processor. Coverage under EU-US Data Privacy Framework + SCC.
- Purpose: site usage statistics (which pages, how many unique visitors, geographic origin).
- Cookies set:
_ga,_ga_<id>. - Duration: 2 years (Google's browser default; configurable). The data retention on Google's servers is set to 14 months (see Privacy policy).
- How to reject: in the CMP banner, do not accept the "Analytics" category; or install the global GA opt-out add-on.
- More info: policies.google.com/privacy
3. Advertising cookies (possible future addition)
For now the site shows no advertising and no advertising cookies are loaded. If a display advertising provider is added in the future (e.g. Google AdSense in contextual, non-personalised mode), this policy will be updated with the detail of cookies, their durations and providers —and will require your consent via the banner— before activation.
Google Consent Mode v2
mapa.gay implements Google Consent Mode v2: consent signals from the CMP banner are automatically transmitted to GA4 in standard format (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage). If you reject, GA4 runs in "limited" mode and no advertising cookies are loaded.
Clarification about GA4's "limited" mode. In this mode NO cookies are set in your browser, but aggregated signals without individual identification ARE transmitted to Google (statistical modelling). It is not "zero data transmission" — it is transmission without cookies and without unique identifiers. If you want absolutely nothing transmitted to Google, install the global GA opt-out add-on.
Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, mapa.gay honours it automatically in line with CCPA/CPRA.
How to change your choice at any time
The CMP banner appears on your first visit. To reopen it and change your decision:
- Click "Configure cookies" in the footer of any page on the site.
- Or delete mapa.gay cookies and localStorage in your browser, and it will be shown again on your next visit.
Caveat about the cookie list
The specific cookie names listed above (_ga, _ga_<id>) are accurate at the time this policy was written. Google may add, rename or remove cookies without notice on our side. Always consult the official linked policies for the most up-to-date list. mapa.gay does not control these third-party cookies beyond not loading them without consent.
Updates
This policy will be updated when cookie providers or cookies used change. Last updated date appears at the bottom.
