Consensual relations between men are criminalized under Section 210 of the Papua New Guinea Penal Code, with a maximum penalty of 14 years' imprisonment. Although the law is rarely enforced, there have been recent arrests (2015 and 2022). There is no legal recognition of same-sex unions.
