Senegal
Same-sex relations are criminalized under Article 319 of the Senegalese Penal Code. In March 2026 a reform was enacted doubling the maximum penalty to 10 years' imprisonment and additionally criminalizing the 'glorification' and financing of same-sex relationships. There is no legal recognition of same-sex unions. The U.S. State Department classifies Senegal as Level 1 (Exercise Normal Precautions), but the legal framework for LGBTQI+ persons is very restrictive.
