Egypt
Although Egypt's Penal Code does not explicitly criminalize same-sex relations, authorities apply de facto a 1961 supplemental anti-prostitution law and 'debauchery' and public morality laws, with penalties reaching up to 17 years' hard labor, fines and deportation. Egyptian law only recognizes marriage between a man and a woman. Several foreign affairs ministries maintain active travel advisories for Egypt. We recommend consulting official sources before planning any travel.
