Riksdag bans conversion therapy (in force 1 Jul 2026)

Sweden's Riksdag voted on 20 May 2026 to ban conversion therapy, classifying it as psychological violence with penalties of up to 4 years' imprisonment. The law enters into force on 1 July 2026 and covers both sexual orientation and gender identity.
