The 2023 Anti-Homosexuality Act establishes life imprisonment for homosexual acts and the death penalty for "aggravated homosexuality", plus 10 years for attempted homosexual acts. Same-sex marriage has been constitutionally banned since 2005. The U.S. State Department maintains a Level 3 advisory that explicitly mentions laws targeting persons based on sexual orientation.
