October-November is the best time: 20-25°C, low humidity, clear skies, coincides with Taiwan Pride (last Saturday of October). June-September is typhoon season — sweltering, torrential rain, possible typhoon disruptions.
Mandarin is official (traditional script, not simplified). In Ximending, international hotels and Xinyi English is basic-functional. Red House bar staff often manage English. MRT fully bilingual.

Ximending is the obvious choice for gay immersion: walking to Red House plaza, broad boutique and mid-range hotel offering. Da'an second option for quieter residential stay. Xinyi for international luxury (Marriott, Grand Hyatt).
Taiwan has one of the world's best healthcare systems. Free anonymous HIV/STI testing through Taiwan Lourdes Association. PrEP/PEP available via prescription, more accessible than many Western countries. International hospitals attend in English.
